Advisory Bodies World Heritage Workshop
Gland, Switzerland, from 18 to 22 March 2013
The Advisory Bodies to the World Heritage
Committee – IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature), ICCROM
(International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of
Cultural Property), and ICOMOS (International Council on Monuments and Sites) –
invited 14 professionals in cultural or natural heritage conservation from
around the world to attend the Advisory Bodies World Heritage Workshop that was
held at IUCN headquarters in Gland, Switzerland, from 18 to 22 March 2013.
Member of the Commission to preserve National Monuments Amra Hadzimuhamedovic
was invited to attend Workshop.
This workshop is part of a series of regional
workshops for cultural and natural heritage professionals under the World
Heritage Capacity Building Project. The objectives of these workshops are to:
1.
Update and inform cultural and natural heritage professionals on Advisory Body
activities and processes supporting the implementation of the World Heritage
Convention;
2. Build
and enhance the capacity of professionals and strengthen the technical networks
of the Advisory Bodies, to support the identification, evaluation and
conservation of World Heritage properties;
3.
Enhance communication and collaboration between cultural and natural heritage
professionals within Advisory Body networks, to support a more effective
implementation of the World Heritage Convention.
The participants were prepared to perform
evaluation and reactive missions for the Advisory bodies and the World Heritage
Center.
The workshop involved drafting exercises, a
site visit, group discussions and presentations.
