“Development of Cultural Tourism: Hungarian Experiences“
Hungary, 10-20 May 2009
The study trip with the topic “Development of Cultural Tourism: Hungarian Experiences” was organised by HUN-IDA (Hungarian-International Development Agency). The purpose of the trip was to learn more about the status of culture, cultural heritage and cultural tourism as well as of the functioning of legislation in one of the recent EU members – both positive and negative aspects.
The delegation of Bosnia and Herzegovina was composed of 26 representatives of different institutions and cultural centres of Bosnia and Herzegovina and four representatives of the MDGF Office of the United Nations (the Culture for Development Programme). The Commission to Preserve National Monuments was represented by Zijad Halilović, the Commission’s archaeology specialist. During our ten-day visit we had meetings in Pécs (to be the European City of Culture in 2010), Budapest, Eger and Miskolc.
The meetings were held with representatives of municipalities, Hungarian ministries at different levels and cultural institutions (cultural centres, heritage houses, museums, Kolibri Youth Theatre, Romano Teatro, etc.). The participants also visited the Regional Centre for Ecotourism and the village of Hollókő, which has been placed under UNESCO protection.
