Presentation by the Commission at the exhibition Bridges of Understanding of culture and the applied arts between Ameerica and Bosnia and Herzegovina at the International Monetary Fund/World Bank headquarters in Washington DC

 

The Commission was represented at the exhibition by members Amra Hadžimuhamedović, Ljiljana Ševo, and Tina Wik and the Executive Officer Mirela Mulalić Handan.

 
The Commission mounted an exhibition of endangered monuments in the World Bank hall in Washington and launched an international campaign for the protection of the properties at greatest risk in Bosnia and Herzegovina, to draw attention to the fact that the heritage is endangered in BiH and to help secure international support for its protection.

 
The exhibition was attended by aout 300 officials, including the Chairman of the Council of Ministers, Adnan Terzić; the Foreign Minister of BiH, Mladen Ivanić; the High Representative in BiH, Paddy Ashdown; the Governor of the Central Bank of BiH, Peter Nichol; the President of the World Bank, James D. Wolfensohn; Mirza Kušljugić, ambassador in the BiH Permanent Mission to the United Nations.

Commission members held a meeting with Lawrence M. Hannah, head economist of the World Bank. Arlein Fleming offered to arrange a meeting in October with representatives of the International Monetary Fund and other organizations that could support the Commission's work.
