Meeting with Sulejman Tihiæ, President of the Presidency/ 02.09.2004.
Protection of recently-discovered fragments of the Aladža mosque in Foèa
A meeting was held in the Presidency building on 2 September between members of the Commission to Preserve National Monuments and the President of the Presidency of BiH, Sulejman Tihiæ. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the recently-discovered fragments of the Aladža mosque in Foèa on the site of what is assumed to be a mass grave very close to the prison building in Foèa, and how to protect them.
As well as Mr Sulejman Tihiæ and Commission members Amra Hadžimuhamedoviæ (Chair), Zeynep Ahunbay, Ljiljana Ševo and Tina Wik, the meeting was also attended by Mrs Sabira Husedžinoviæ, Mr Stjepan Kljujiæ, and Mr Dragomir Vukoviæ.
It was resolved that the Commission would draw up an estimate for the works to protect the fragments, to include surrounding the site with a non-transparent barrier to protect the site, the removal of the fragments, the transportation of the most valuable fragments to the National Museum, and the appropriate safe-keeping of the remaining fragments.
President Tihiæ made it clear that all relevant institutions of BiH should contribute to the protection of the recently-discovered fragments of the Aladža mosque in Foèa, and said that the Presidency of BiH would set the matter in motion and adopt the decisions required to resolve the issue at the next session of the Presidency of BiH, due to be held on Wednesday 8 September 2004.
