Restoration of the Ali-bey Kapetanović mosque in Vitina, Ljubuški

Signature of Agreement to finance the works

On 11 November 2008, an agreement was signed in Sarajevo between the Federal Republic of Germany and the Commission to Preserve National Monuments on the funding of the restoration works on the Ali-bey Kapetanović in Vitina, in the sum of 96,754.90 KM.  The agreement was signed by HE Joachim Schmidt, ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Commission member Amra Hadžimuhamedović.

The agreement continues the cooperation between the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Commission to Preserve National Monuments begun in 2007 with the co-financing of the rehabilitation of the Holy Trinity monastery in Vozućica.

The Commission to Preserve National Monuments allocated the sum of 28,895.00 KM from its budget for the project to restore the mosque, and the Ministry of Regional Planning of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina allocated the sum of 88,000.00 KM. The design of the project to reconstruct the Ali-bey Kapetanović mosque was funded by the Majlis of the Islamic Community of Ljubuški, which owns the property.
