Visit by ICCROM Director General Mounir Bouchenaki and ICCROM and ICOMOS expert mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina

Mounir Bouchenaki, Director General of ICCROM, and an ICCROM and ICOMOS expert mission consisting of Prof. Dr. Jukka Jokilehto, mission head, Prof. Dr. Laura Baratin and Prof. Dr. Carlo Cesari visited Bosnia and Herzegovina from 13 to 16 May 2009. The mission was associated with the presentation of their report on efforts to reach a satisfactory architectural solution for the redesign of the Ruža Hotel in Mostar.
On 13 May 2009 they attended the event marking the seventh anniversary of the Commission to Preserve National Monuments in the Konak, with the promotion of issue no. 3 of the Commission’s periodical Baština/Heritage and an exhibition of photographs of projects to rehabilitate the endangered heritage in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
On 14 May 2009, following a visit to the Commission to Preserve National Monuments, they attended a meeting in the building of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, where they presented their report on efforts to reach a satisfactory architectural solution for the redesign of the Ruža Hotel in Mostar. On behalf of the ICCROM-ICOMOS expert mission, Jukka Jokilehto held a detailed presentation of the report and annex entitled “ICCROM-ICOMOS Mission to Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, 11-18 October 2008.”
During their visit they visited the site of the Ruža Hotel, accompanied by qualified staff members from the Commission, and presented their report and annex in the premises of the Stari Grad Agency. They also visited Blagaj, the Žitomislići monastery, and Počitelj.
